The University of South Carolina’s Health Sciences Campus reached a major milestone on August 12, 2025 with the start of structural steel erection. The accompanying photos show progression from steel on the fabrication table to standing the first three columns in the field. School of Medicine Columbia breaks ground on new facility at USC Health Sciences Campus
Gilbane is excited to report that construction of the University of South Carolina's new School of Medicine Columbia has commenced, on schedule. On January 21, 2025, our site contractor, Taylor Brothers, mobilized to the site and quickly completed site clearing and demolition activities. As of February 21, 2025, the building pad is at subgrade and our deep foundation contractor, Keller, is in the process of installing test piles (see photo). In the coming months, auger cast piles will be installed as activities related to deep foundations unfold. Stay tuned for further updates!
